A Partnership Born in Cornwall

When rugby meets heat, only one outcome is possible – a sauce that truly kicks. The idea for Red Hot Chilli Pirates came from Ross Hancock, Head of Media, Marketing & Commercial at Cornish Pirates, and our very own Director and chilli fanatic, Rob Popham.

Months of collaboration and taste-testing between our team and the Pirates led to something truly special – a bottle that captures the intensity of match day and the warmth of Cornish hospitality in every drop.

“This sauce is the perfect embodiment of Cornish Pirates’ fierce spirit,” says Ross. “We wanted to create something authentic, something with heart – and we’ve done just that thanks to the amazing team at Cornish Chillies.”

Made in Cornwall, For Cornwall

The heat in this sauce comes from our own habanero chillies, grown right here on our chilli farm at the Trewithen Estate near Grampound, just off the A390 between Truro and St Austell. Carefully cultivated by Scott and Sue Hall – the husband-and-wife founders of Cornish Chillies – these chillies are known for their fruity fire and exceptional flavour.

We’ve added a glug of local Crusty Juggler Rum for a smooth, smoky finish that takes things to the next level. It’s hot, it’s bold, and it’s unmistakably Cornish.

The name Red Hot Chilli Pirates – a cheeky nod to the legendary band Red Hot Chili Peppers – was chosen by Sally Pettipher, CEO of Cornish Pirates, as part of the club’s renewed mission to connect more deeply with the Cornish community.

“This is about more than just flavour,” says Sally. “It’s about showcasing local businesses, supporting Cornish talent, and bringing our fans something they can enjoy both on and off the pitch. We see this as just the beginning of many exciting new ventures.”
