Biquinho peppers — also called Little Beak peppers or Sweety Drops when pickled — are small, teardrop-shaped chilies originating from Brazil. They belong to the Capsicum chinense species, the same family as habaneros, but they’re far milder.
Heat Level: Around 500–1,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), making them gentle enough for most palates.
Flavour Profile: Fruity, slightly tangy, and aromatic, with hints reminiscent of habanero but without the intense burn.
Appearance: Usually red or yellow, glossy, and about the size of a marble with a pointed tip.
Uses: Commonly pickled, added to salads, garnishes, or used in sauces for a pop of flavour without overwhelming heat.

The Ají Limón, also known as the Lemon Drop pepper, is a vibrant yellow chilli native to Peru. It’s prized for its bright, citrusy flavor with a distinct lemon-like tang, making it a favourite in Peruvian cooking for adding both heat and freshness to dishes.
Appearance: Small, cone-shaped pods (often slightly wrinkled) that ripen to a sunny yellow.
Flavour Profile: Tangy, fruity, and zesty — similar to a habanero’s fruitiness but without the same intense burn.
Heat Level: 15,000–30,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU) — about 3–10 times hotter than a jalapeño, but milder than a habanero.
It’s a chilli that delivers both punch and brightness, making it stand out in spicy yet refreshing recipes.

The orange habanero is a small, lantern-shaped chilli pepper known for its intense heat and fruity, citrus-like flavour. It’s one of the most common habanero varieties and is popular in hot sauces, salsas, and Caribbean-style dishes.
Heat Level (Scoville Scale): Typically ranges from 150,000 to 350,000 SHU (Scoville Heat Units), making it significantly hotter than jalapeños (which average 2,500–8,000 SHU).

Appearance: Vibrant orange skin, smooth and glossy, usually 2–6 cm long.

Padrón peppers are small, green Spanish chilli peppers, typically about 5 cm (2 in) long with a slightly wrinkled, elongated shape. They’re most often harvested while still unripe and green, giving them a mild, slightly grassy flavour with a hint of nuttiness when cooked.
Their charm lies in the “pepper lottery” — while most are mild, a few can surprise you with noticeable heat. On the Scoville scale, they range from 500 to 2,500 SHU, meaning most are about as mild as a banana pepper, but the hotter ones can approach the lower end of a jalapeño’s heat. With this years heat waves, the plants have suffered some ‘heat stress’ and our Padron Peppers seem to be generally more spicier than usual.
They’re traditionally pan-fried in olive oil and sprinkled with coarse sea salt, making them a popular Spanish tapas dish.

A tomatillo is a small, tart, husk-covered fruit from the Physalis philadelphica plant, widely used in Mexican cooking—especially in salsa verde. It looks like a green tomato wrapped in a papery lantern-like husk, but it’s not a tomato and isn’t interchangeable with one.
Tomatillos are known for their tangy, citrusy, slightly sour flavour.

The Hot Chocolate habanero is a very hot chilli pepper with a rich brown colour, smoky flavour, and intense heat ranging from 300,000 to 577,000 Scoville Heat Units.
It gets its name from its deep chocolate-brown pod, not because it tastes like chocolate, though it is famously paired with cocoa in spicy treats and hot chocolate.
Flavour Notes: Deep, smoky, earthy, and rich with a slow-building heat.
